Perhaps foolishly, this image is an homage to this past winter. I think it’s finally done. It started in November and was unrelenting through most of March. It was occasionally beautiful, occasionally dirty, like most winters, but consistently snowy and cold. I hope that’s not a sign of the new normal.
The featured image of the red fruit was from December. I liked how the red fruit contrasted with the whiteness of the lawns and streets and the generally flat toned, grey feel of the neighborhood.
The other images are from different parts of the season. The icicles are from the back of my house, where I battled ice dams. The sidewalk scene was taken after a long shovel, one of an endless sequence of days with a shovel. The auto shop scene is from near my home. And the bicycle sat in the snow all winter. It’s still there, at school, where I work, mostly free of ice and snow.
