This past weekend I took a photo walk in the area around the dam in Ada Village, a few miles east of Grand Rapids. There was a heavy fog with occasional light rain. I was not sure what if anything I’d get, but the images turned about to be really interesting.
I processed them by leaning into the foggy morning light, where there were no bright or dark tones, just whitish-gray light and muted colors. The images have a painterly look to them with an impressionist feel. I did most in color, but some variations in monochrome.
Here are my favorites. The first is north of the dam, the rest south of it, where the dam has created a small lake.
The last one is the same as the “cover” image of the blog post, but in monochrome rather than color. Enjoy!
