The water of the West Arm of Grand Traverse Bay in northern Michigan, specifically. I spend the weekend in the Traverse Bay area, photographing while my wife and her triathlon friends biked and ran, the runners doing the Bayshore Marathon. I roamed Leenenau Peninsula, spending time in Leland, Suttons Bay, Northport, and Leelanau State Park.
Here’s my favorite short from the foggy Saturday morning around the lighthouse in the state park. You couldn’t really see the water. And there were swarms of midges everywhere. But this image is pretty cool.
For all that driving around, I got my best shots in about 10-15 minutes early Sunday morning in Traverse City. The sunlight filtered through thin clouds was soft and the water was calm with little to no wind.
I’ll follow this post with one of images from Suttons Bay taken with my DJI Mavij and my Fujifilm camera. As these shots suggest, it was a restful early Sunday morning. Photography, quiet traffic on the roads, and Tom Petty on the radio.
