I’ve not posted on this blog since early 2015. Four years. I’ve taken lots of pictures in the meantime, though not nearly as many as from 2012 to 2015. (You can see pictures from the last four years on my Zenfolio site.) Part of this four-year hiatus was busyness with work, part of it laziness with doing photography and blogging, even when I had time.
What gives? It’s a shiny new year, obviously. (Hopefully it stays shiny, though I won’t hold my breath.) But more than that, this past summer I decided to dedicate more of my time to life and a bit less to work. I’m still busy enough that I’ll have to cut cut corners everywhere. It’s just that I’ll be cutting a few more at work and a few less in the rest of my life. That means more time hanging out with family and friends, exercising, meditating, photographing, etc.
Here’s one image to start the new year, from this morning. I wanted an abstract, pastel look, so I blurred the image and overexposed it. The white outside is a product of the high key exposure; it’s not snow.
I plan to take at least one photograph a day, no more than two a week with my iPhone. I’ll post at least once a week, including one that has a photograph from every day of the week.
In the spirit of in with the new and out with the old, here’s one from last year. It’s a shot of downtown Grand Rapids, looking up the Grand River, from the viewpoint of my drone (about 200 feet up, if I remember right. One the toys I bought while I was taking pictures but not blogging about it.
I’ll post a few images from last year in the next week or two, and images from the last few years in the coming months. But this is enough for now.
