Late Winter Beauty

There’s something about landscapes in late winter, with no snow on the ground but before leaves start blooming, that I find attractive. Here’s a few of my favorites from a walk at Roselle Park this weekend (it’s on Grand River Dr. NE, a few miles north of Fulton).

The lines and reflections of trees in water always catch my attention.

I love the look of utility lines against an interesting sky. Some people love the look of nature untrammeled, with no sign of human intervention. (Such “nature” often is carefully managed, even “restored,” to look like humans never were there.) I like the juxtaposition of the built and “natural” landscapes.

Roselle Park is on land that once was a farm, as the two silos suggest. Apparently, the land once was the Ada Beef Company.

Finally, the beauty that is trees with no leaves!

Enjoy! Soon enough we will have the relentless, oppressive greenery of summer.
