Signs of Spring

Showers. Well, vicious storms with hard wind and heavy rain. And sunshine.

The former–sunshine–in these images from Douglas and Saugatuck, Michigan. In the first, the artwork nicely framed the Kalamazoo River and provided strong shadows to contrast with the bright hazy sun on the water. In the second, bright light and rich shadow in two Saugatuck doorways.

In general, the sun was bright. So, in processing my images I went with a bright, slightly washed, high key look.

And, finally, with sunshine, and Douglas-Saugatuck, more bright colors.

Then, there’s the “showers,” or rather the rain and the flooding it is causing. I took photos in a variety of flooded areas. These two, from Riverside Park, on the Grand River a bit west of Lowell, MI, will represent what I saw. The rain may be over, for a bit, but the water is still with us.

I assume the mix of rain and sun will bring May flowers. And pollen. And so, allergies.
