Library Out of Context

This morning I went into my office in the archives at the university where I work. I wanted to grab a book. The school is on spring break and the library was closed today, so I knew that the library would be mostly dark. I thought that the bright light outside and the shadows it would produce inside would be interesting. I was right.

What do you think? Cool lines. Bright light. Deep shadows. Exaggerated contrast. What do you see?

This is less “abstract” than “out of context. But still, a variation on the theme. You know what you’re seeing. But what is it and where? In this one I over-exposed and went high key.

This one is again high key. And it’s a shelf below the one where the bird above is.

This one feels like “waiting.” The students are back and classes again in session on Monday.
